Problem: You cannot receive email when Virgin Media Security is running.
Cause: The Virgin Media Security Anti-Virus will scan your incoming email attachments for viruses using an incoming mail proxy. This can cause conflicts with other pre-existing mail proxies. These types of proxies are usually installed by another Anti-Virus application or an anti-spam application. Two prominent examples of such applications are Norton Anti-Spam and McAfee Spam-Killer.
Resolution: Disable or remove any other Anti-Spam or Anti-Virus programs. If none are found or if the problem persists after removing them, disable the incoming email scanning feature in Virgin Media Security.
Ensure there are no other Anti-Virus or Anti-Spam programs installed.
Open Virgin Media Security.
Click Anti-Virus then Preferences.
Clear the Scan incoming emails and attachments option.
You should now be able to receive their email and attachments.
Note: Even if the Scan incoming emails and attachments option is not selected, infected attachments will be detected by the Anti-Virus Real-time Protection service when the file is accessed.
