Problem: When I try to install Virgin Media Security, I receive the following error: " Your computer must be rebooted before this install or uninstall can be run ". 
 
Solution: This occurs if the Virgin Media Security folder already exists, deleting the Shareddata file will correct this issue.
 

Windows 2000 & XP:

To show hidden folders:

1. Open Windows Explorer.

2. Click on Tools.

3. Select Folder Options.

4. Select the View tab.

5. Click on Show hidden files and folders from the list.

6. Click OK.

To delete shareddata.ini:

1. Open My Computer and click Local Disk (C:).

2. Click Documents and Settings.

3. Click All Users.

4. Click Application Data.

5. Click the Virgin Media Security folder.

6. Delete the shareddata file.

7. Restart the Virgin Media Security setup, it should now install.

 

Windows Vista

To ShowHidden folder

1.Click Start menu, select Control Panel.

2. Click on Folder Options.

3. Select Show Hidden Files and Folders.

4. Click OK.

To delete the shareddata.ini file

1. Open Computer and click Local Disk (C:).

2. Click ProgramData.

3. Click the Virgin Media Security folder.

4. Delete the shareddata file.

5. Restart the Virgin Media Security setup, it should now install.
