Question:When I try to install Virgin Media Security, I get the following error message: “ To install Virgin Media Security on this computer, the following conflicting program must be removed”. What should I do?
Answer: Conflicting application lead to general unpredictability. Most commonly the presence of other security software such as Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Firewall and some other applications will have an impact on the installation or activation procedure. Such applications should be remove prior the installation of Virgin Media Security.
Example of conflicting applications:
- Symantec products (i.e. Norton Anti-Spam, Personal Firewall, etc...)
- McAfee products ( i.e. McAfee Virus Scan, McAfee Personal Firewall, etc...)
- Panda products
- Kaspersky products
- eTrust products
- FSecure Products
- BitDefender products
- AVG products
- NOD32 products
If a conflicting application has been found:
- During the Virgin Media Security installation, a pop-up will appear indicating that conflicting applications have been found.
- The conflicting application will be identified in the message, click the Remove button.
- Virgin Media Security conflicting application detection will automatically launch the conflicting application uninstaller.
- Follow the on-screen steps to uninstall the conflicting application.
- Once the application is uninstalled, you will be requested to reboot the computer.
- Once the computer has restarted, Virgin Media Security installation will resume automatically.
- If the User Account Control is enabled, a pop-up will appear asking you to allow Virgin Media Security to install. To resume the Virgin Media Security installation, click Yes.
